Join RJ and Matt as they catch up on the latest Phish news. We discuss the new Trey documentary "Between Me and My Mind" as well as the latest LivePhish archival release: 11/11/98 from Grand Rapids, MI. RJ was lucky enough to see the premier of the documentary film at the Beacon and has many thoughts about it. Matt tries to explain multitrack recording in less than two minutes. We play some tunes. No big whoop.

Episode 152: Chainsaw City

This week we have a unique episode. We brought our friend Harvey on, who hosts the podcast Bluest Tape, also on the Osiris network. His podcast focuses on Widespread Panic, but this week we're turning him on to Phish...

To prep for the episode, we gave Harvey some homework—to listen to 4.16.9211.17.97 and 7.25.17. We run through these shows and get Harvey's feedback and thoughts on Phish. We also talk about his Widespread Panic history and how that overlaps with his Phish experience.

Back Tracking — The White Tape

"The White Tape" © Phish
Welcome back! This week we're starting a new feature, called Back Tracking, looking back at each Phish album. These album review episodes will be mixed in with our regular episodes. We hope you enjoy it.

"Phish", aka "The White Tape," is of course the first "album," which was self-produced and recorded in 1986. We walk through the songs one-by-one, and talk about some of the gems on this one. We definitely had this tape when it was circulating back in the day, and it was fun to revisit.

Of course you can pick up the album on vinyl from Dry Goods, and stream it anytime at LivePhish or on the app.

Episode 150: Hampton 2009...has it really been 10 years?

Photo from JM Hart
This week, we're celebrating our 150th episode in style, looking back on the run that started it all for this era of Phish, Hampton 2009.

We start the episode reflecting on the 150 episodes of HF Pod, and then we get into discussing these shows with a lot of music, of course. We mention this NYT article that came out around Hampton '09.

ICYMI, here's the Beyond the Pond Mexico recap with our very own Matt.

Here are links to 2 of our Osiris podcasts mentioned in the episode, Phemale-Centrics and The Daily Soundcheck.

Episode 149: Winter Tour 2003 (Parts 1 & 2)

It's time for another deep dive into a tour, this time it's Winter Tour 2003. Both parts available now (part 2 is first in the player below)

This is a tour that has a lot of contradictions—some overlooked shows, one of the best shows ever. Some less than perfect playing, some of the best jamming you'll hear. We break it down show by show and bring you plenty of music.

BIG CYPRESS! As we mention in the episode, we're embarking on a big retrospective this year with our friends from Osiris. We want your thoughts, memories, videos, photos, whatever you have to share. They will be put to good use. Read more about it here, and email us at bigcypress at osirispod dot com. We look forward to hearing from you.

Here's a link to the Jerry print we mentioned in the episode.

Episode 148: Providence 3/13/92

This week we hop in the time machine and take a trip back to 1992 to talk about and listen to some of a show from Providence, 3/13/92. This tour featured a lot of debuts from "Rift" and some really great early jamming that would preview jams to come.

You can read more about this month from Phish's perspective on Phish.com.

Episode 147: Thank You for Sharing

This week, we're bringing you something a little different. Two longtime listeners, Jason and Mike, join us to talk about an important topic—their experiences with addiction and recovery, and their experiences in the Phish community. We also play some music.

You may have read the GQ article that came out yesterday, which featured Trey and a bunch of other musicians talking about how to thrive creatively without drinking or doing drugs. Also mentioned in this episode are The Phellowship and Trey's drug court speech from 2011.

And here's the link to the Phish.Net article about the new Amy's Farm video. Support Mockingbird if you can!
