Episode 92: Phish.Net Conversation

We had the privilege of interviewing Marco Walsh, Board President of The Mockingbird Foundation and a prominent member of the Phish.Net community who's given countless hours of his time over the years.

This interview gave us the chance to talk in depth about the history of the site and the Foundation, while hearing about the incredible work that all the volunteers have done for 20+ years. We of course also touch on the Phish Companion. Hey, it's the holidays! Pick one up for a friend or loved one.

Also, there's a contest! The Mockingbird Foundation donated one copy of the book as well as a really cool poster. All you have to do is share this post with your friends on Facebook and/or Twitter using #MbirdHFPod and we'll pick two random winners (one for the book and one for the poster) on Monday, December 5.

Marco also shares memories from his first show, 4.17.92 at the Warfield in San Francisco. We talk a bit about that tour and that show, and we play a few tracks from that night. A great memory for Marco and a good show to revisit. Hope you enjoy.

Seems like the thing to do is keep on dancing.
Love ya, Sharon.

An Issue We Can't Overlook

Today we bring you a different kind of conversation. Over the past several weeks, there has been a lot of conversation online about harassment and abuse of women at Phish shows and in the community more broadly. We invited three ladies on to talk about this, Felicia, Shelly and Jen. This episode was informed by the work of Brian Colligan, who wrote a piece about this topic. We borrowed the episode title from his piece.

We hope this conversation sheds a bit of light on the issues and allows us to work together to make sure this kind of shit does not happen.

We'll be back with our Fall Tour recap episode later this week. In the meantime, please subscribe and review us on iTunes and follow us on Twitter. Also like us on Facebook

Episode 90: Interview w/Tom Marshall

Today we're excited to share our interview with Tom Marshall! We appreciate him coming on to share his experiences, perspectives and stories. He also shares some big news about a project he's been working on, which you'll hear more about in the coming days. Check it out.

Here's Tom's Soundcloud, which has some great tracks. We included some music, including TAB 5.11.99 (they play Sleep and Blue & Shiny, with Tom). Also, there's a Backwards Down the Number Line, from 5.28.11. Because, sometimes you get number lined, and you gotta love it.

Quick Hit: Phish @ MGM Grand Arena, Halloween 2016

Photo from Steve Olker
Halloween delivered! I'm joined by Jonathan, who talks to us about this epic show, which of course included a cover album—David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust.

We included a couple clips from this three-set show, as there's plenty to go back and revisit.

Fall Tour is now behind us, but we have lots of listening and catching up to do. We'll be putting out a couple of episodes within the next week or two, including a tour wrap-up with a guest and our interview with Tom Marshall!

You can download the Quick Hit here. Let us know how you liked the Quick Hits this tour, and what else you'd like to see from us.
