This week, we're excited to chat with Jefferson Waful, Lighting Designer for Umphrey's McGee and Producer for CID Entertainment (and a long time Phish fan).

This was a really fun conversation, chatting with Jefferson about his career, lighting, the jam band scene, and of course his Phish journey. We also talked about and included some music from one of Jefferson's favorite shows, 12.31.93. We included lots of tracks from that. Please enjoy!

Episode 92: Phish.Net Conversation

We had the privilege of interviewing Marco Walsh, Board President of The Mockingbird Foundation and a prominent member of the Phish.Net community who's given countless hours of his time over the years.

This interview gave us the chance to talk in depth about the history of the site and the Foundation, while hearing about the incredible work that all the volunteers have done for 20+ years. We of course also touch on the Phish Companion. Hey, it's the holidays! Pick one up for a friend or loved one.

Also, there's a contest! The Mockingbird Foundation donated one copy of the book as well as a really cool poster. All you have to do is share this post with your friends on Facebook and/or Twitter using #MbirdHFPod and we'll pick two random winners (one for the book and one for the poster) on Monday, December 5.

Marco also shares memories from his first show, 4.17.92 at the Warfield in San Francisco. We talk a bit about that tour and that show, and we play a few tracks from that night. A great memory for Marco and a good show to revisit. Hope you enjoy.

An Issue We Can't Overlook

Today we bring you a different kind of conversation. Over the past several weeks, there has been a lot of conversation online about harassment and abuse of women at Phish shows and in the community more broadly. We invited three ladies on to talk about this, Felicia, Shelly and Jen. This episode was informed by the work of Brian Colligan, who wrote a piece about this topic. We borrowed the episode title from his piece.

We hope this conversation sheds a bit of light on the issues and allows us to work together to make sure this kind of shit does not happen.

We'll be back with our Fall Tour recap episode later this week. In the meantime, please subscribe and review us on iTunes and follow us on Twitter. Also like us on Facebook

We're trying something a little different—instead of discussing the show in detail after we play the music, we have a shorter discussion up front, and then just leave you to the music. Let us know what you think!

And here's the picture of Brad's shirt that we mentioned. It was scary.

The music starts at just about 18 minutes. You can listen to the episode directly here. And please review us on iTunes, like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.

Quick Hit: Phish @ Wrigley Field, 6/24/16

Photo: Brian Brinkman!
Here's a Quick Hit from Wrigley Field night 1, with our good friend Brian Brinkman. As a lifelong Cubs fan born and raised in Chicago, this was a huge night for Brian. We're glad he was able to share it with us.

We've included a clip from the Twist from last night, which really just shows how nimble the band is, with their ability to "turn on a dime" in the middle of a jam, as Brian said.

Listen to this Quick Hit directly here.

Quick Hit: Phish @ Xcel Energy Center, 6/22/16

For this tour, we're going to bring you a "quick hit" from each show -- a brief discussion and clip from the show -- and put them up by the next afternoon. Today we're chatting briefly about the show from last night in St. Paul, MN.

We've included a clip from the Wolfman's Brother, as we feel like that captures the sound well. But this overall was a nice tour opener, and of course we're looking forward to more.

Episode 83: Top 15 Summer Jams!

This week, we have our most ambitious podcast undertaking to date, done in partnership with our guest Justin Bruce. We compiled about 50 Phish Summer jams from across the eras, then asked people to vote on their top 15 jams. The results are in! This episode will feature the top 15 Phish Summer jams, as voted on by YOU!

The format is a bit different: We count down the 15 jams a few at a time, and discuss in between. We encourage you to listen to the show all the way through to hear the countdown, but if you absolutely must know, you can click this link to see the list and how the timing breaks down. But we would encourage you to NOT do that and listen to the way it unfolds for your ears. (If you want to download the mp3 of the episode directly, click here.)

As we're approaching tour, be sure to get your Summer Tour opener guess in!

Episode 76: Chalk Dust Torture!

This week, we decided to discuss and explore Chalk Dust Torture and its evolution over the years. Phish has of course been playing this song since 1991, and the evolution of the song has pretty closely followed the trajectory of their music—incredible precision, then a bit of exploration, then funk, then way more space and groove, then into the current era of patient but ambitious jams. Tracks below, and you can download the episode directly here.

If you haven't yet, please take our quick survey about how we can improve the podcast. Also, review us on iTunes and follow us on Twitter. Episode 74: Year in Review Phish 2015

2015 was a hell of a year for Phish. We attempt to do it justice in Episode 74, with a great group of guests joining us for this 3-part episode. Each part touches on a different theme, with Part 1 focused on the new material that was released this year and Part 2 focused on the evolution of improvisation in 2015. Part 3 includes some jams we think you shouldn't miss -- music without discussion. Tracks for Parts 1-3 below. We appreciate Allie, Chris, Zac and Dianna joining us for this really fun episode.

This past year was a little different for Phish. Fewer shows, no Fall tour, Trey guest starring in Fare Thee Well shows, Magnaball, and another glorious New Year's run at Madison Square Garden. And even though we got fewer shows, we all agreed that almost every show had something special. We talk a lot about how this year fits into the band's history, and where they go from here.
